Day 7: God’s Covenant with Abram—Faithful Promises, Faithful God (365 Steps with God)

On Day 7 of our journey, we explore Abram’s rescue mission, the blessing from Melchizedek, and God’s extraordinary covenant promise. Through these events, we learn about trust, covenantal love, and God’s faithfulness, even in the midst of human frailty.

A Quick Recap
Yesterday, we walked with Abram as he trusted God’s promises and stood firm in faith despite uncertainty. Job’s unwavering worship even in suffering also reminded us of the value of trusting God in the face of trials. Today, we delve into Abram’s rescue of Lot, Melchizedek’s blessing, and God’s covenant with Abram, which showcases His unwavering faithfulness.
Dear Chloe,
Hi, sweetheart!
Today, we learn about an important moment in Abram’s journey with God. Imagine rescuing someone dear to you from danger and then receiving an amazing blessing from a mysterious king! This is where we find Abram today. God also makes an extraordinary promise to Abram, showing us just how faithful He is.
I hope as you read this, you’ll see that God is faithful to His promises and always has a bigger plan for us, even when we can’t fully see it yet.
Lesson 1: Abram’s Courage and Faithful Action
Abram learns that his nephew, Lot, has been taken captive. Without hesitation, he gathers his men and courageously pursues Lot’s captors. Despite being outnumbered, Abram rescues Lot and recovers all that was lost. This act of bravery is grounded in Abram’s faith in God.
What This Means for You, Chloe:
Sometimes, doing the right thing takes courage. Like Abram, remember that God equips us to face challenges, even when they seem overwhelming. Courage doesn’t mean the absence of fear, it means trusting God will guide you through.
For Moms:
Nakakabilib si Abram, di ba? Imagine what it took to risk everything to save Lot. His courage came from trusting God fully. Ganyan din tayo, di ba (modesty aside)? Whether we’re navigating the chaos of motherhood or handling unexpected challenges, we’re never alone. God’s strength equips us, and His presence reminds us that no matter how big the challenge, kaya natin! Like Abram, we can face our battles with a brave heart and unwavering faith.
God’s Faithful Love—A Covenant that Lasts Forever
A final thought before we wrap up:
Through Abram’s story, we see a God who makes promises and keeps them. Even when Abram’s faith wavered, God remained steadfast. His covenant is not dependent on us but on His unwavering love and mercy.
Chloe, never forget that God’s love for you is faithful and everlasting. When He makes a promise, He fulfills it.
Love always,
Ninang

Lesson 2: Melchizedek’s Blessing
After Abram’s victory, he encounters Melchizedek, a priest-king of Salem. Melchizedek offers Abram bread and wine, blessing him in the name of God Most High. This moment points forward to Jesus, who is our eternal High Priest.
What This Means for You, Chloe:
Melchizedek’s blessing reminds us that everything we achieve is by God’s grace. When you succeed, always remember to thank God for His blessings and give back to Him in gratitude.
For Moms:
Moms, ‘di ba ang sarap isipin na may reward tayo sa lahat ng ginagawa natin? Whether it’s getting a new client, finishing a work project, or even just having a peaceful family dinner, it’s God’s grace at work. Let’s always take a moment to pause and say, “Thank you, Lord!” Success feels even sweeter when we recognize that it comes from Him.
Lesson 3: God’s Covenant with Abram
God’s promise to Abram is solidified through a covenant ceremony. By walking through the divided animals alone, God shows that He alone is responsible for fulfilling His promises. This covenant assures Abram of descendants as numerous as the stars and the land God has promised. Even though Abram doesn’t fully understand how this will happen, he believes and trusts God.
What This Means for You, Chloe:
God’s promises might not always make sense right away, but they are always trustworthy. Trust that God’s plans for you are good, even if you don’t see the full picture yet. Like Abram, have faith that God is working in your life.
For Moms:
Sometimes it's hard to believe in God’s promises, especially when life is full of uncertainty. But remember, God’s timing is always perfect. We may not see everything clearly now, but He has prepared the best for us. Just like Abram, let’s keep trusting and believing. Instead of telling God how big our problem is, let’s remind ourselves that God is greater than any of our problems.

Looking Ahead
Tomorrow, we’ll explore the theme of surrender as God transforms Abram into Abraham (a new chapter in his faith journey). At the same time, Job continues to wrestle with his suffering, offering us insights into trusting God amidst trials. We’ll also hear wisdom from Proverbs on listening to God’s call and avoiding the path of folly.
