Day 2: When Things Go Wrong -- God’s Love Shines Through (365 Steps with God)
Continue the 365-day Bible reading journey from Day 1. Explore Genesis 3-4 and Psalm 104 to see how sin impacts relationships yet discover God’s unwavering love. Moms can find practical wisdom for staying grounded in faith, and fresh hope in God’s promise of restoration even in our brokenness.
A Quick Recap
Yesterday, we learned that God created everything out of love, rested on the seventh day, and made us for relationships. Just when you think everything’s perfect, Genesis 3 happens—and we see Adam and Eve eat the forbidden fruit, followed by Cain killing his brother Abel in Genesis 4. It’s a stark reminder that sin escalates quickly once we stop trusting God.
Despite the heaviness of these chapters, we also read Psalm 104, a beautiful song that praises God for His ongoing care for all creation. It’s like a comforting hug from heaven, assuring us that God is always present, no matter how messy life gets.
Dear Chloe,
Hi, sweetheart!
I know these chapters might feel tough to read.
It’s scary to see Adam and Eve disobey God, and then Cain harm his brother. But here’s what I want you to remember: even though people messed up, God never abandoned them. He still provided for Adam and Eve by giving them clothing and protected Cain despite his terrible mistake.
Sometimes, we make wrong choices, too (maybe we say something hurtful to a friend or don’t listen to Mom). When that happens, don’t forget that God’s love is BIGGER than our mistakes. He invites us to ask for forgiveness and keep growing closer to Him.
(Moms, how relatable is this? Children aren’t the only ones who mess up—tayo rin! But instead of losing hope, we can turn back to God. He’s always ready to forgive, help, and guide us through the messes we create.)
Lesson 1: Sin Begins with Distrust
Genesis 3 shows how the serpent’s main tactic was to make Adam and Eve doubt God’s goodness. They didn’t stop believing in Him, they just stopped trusting His plan.
What This Means for You, Chloe:
When you’re tempted to do something you know is wrong, remember that God wants the very best for you. Trust Him—He’s on your side, even when you don’t see the bigger picture.
For Moms:
Each day brings its share of mini-crises—lalo na sa bahay, with work deadlines, or dealing with unexpected bills. Remember, God’s plan is always bigger. Choose trust over worry.
Give God Your First Fruits
A final thought before we wrap up:
Instead of letting prayer become an afterthought, schedule it in. Make your offering the best you have, not just what’s left. Whether it’s the first few minutes of your day or a set time in the evening, prioritize that sacred time with the Lord. You’ll see how even a small shift in your routine can transform your outlook and draw you closer to Him.
Keep giving Him your “first fruits,” and see how He blesses your every step.
Love always,
Ninang
Lesson 2: Love Requires Sacrifice
When Adam and Eve sinned, they faced consequences: hard work, pain, and even banishment from the Garden. Cain’s envy led him to commit a terrible act against his brother Abel. Both stories remind us that when we do wrong, it hurts relationships—and repairing them often calls for humility and sacrifice.
What This Means for You, Chloe:
Real love isn’t always easy. Sometimes you have to say “sorry” or share your favorite toys with others (even when you don’t want to). These “little” sacrifices are how we learn to love like God loves.
For Moms:
We know all about sacrifice, right? From waking up early to prepare meals to working hard to support the family—these daily acts of love mirror God’s love for us. Every challenge can draw us closer to Him if we offer it up with patience and gratitude.
Lesson 3: Creation Still Sings God’s Praises (Psalm 104)
After reading the dramatic stories in Genesis, Psalm 104 brings us back to the beauty of God’s world. It’s a poetic reminder that every creature, from birds to the mightiest mountains, depends on God’s provision. No amount of human mess can overshadow His goodness.
What This Means for You, Chloe:
Next time you look at the sunset or your favorite tree, remember: God made all this, and He made you. No matter how big our mistakes, His love is even BIGGER.
For Moms:
Sometimes, the best therapy is stepping outside, taking a deep breath, and noticing how the world keeps on spinning under God’s care. Let that calm your heart today.
Looking Ahead
God’s plan unfolds in the next chapters of Genesis, and we’ll see that He never gives up on humanity. That’s our hope, too: He never gives up on us.
Oh, and here’s something I’d like to share briefly: I’ve been exploring the Truly Rich Club, which combines financial wisdom and faith insights. It’s been helping me see how trusting God applies to every area of life, including money matters. Because yes, even our finances need God’s guidance!
